New On Netflix In October, Including ‘The Midnight Club’

Autumn is coming, finally. It’s been a sweltering summer, but relief is on the way, and with it the eerie season. Netflix is totally in the seasonal mood with multiple new shows to captivate and nurture you. Haunting of Hill House helmer Mike Flanagan returns with his next Midnight-titled show, will show the inner workings of Jeffrey Dahmer, and Mila Kunis stars in a thriller movie based on a popular Gillian Flynn-esque book. In addition, Guillermo del Toro presents a collection of disturbing stories, and Netflix has also replenished their library with copious episodes of the Ocean’s Eleven, Rush hourand Sex and the city franchises. Be warned: Schitt’s Creek will soon be leaving the streamer, so it’s time to catch up or binge again.

Another important development for the month: Netflix seems to be shifting to weekly releases for some titles. So, the newest Unsolved Mysteries and Bling Empire seasons will slowly roll out episodes, and we’ll see if delayed gratification works for Netflix, as it does for Amazon Prime and Apple TV+ shows.

Here’s everything coming (and leaving) to Netflix in October.

The Midnight Club: Season 1 (Netflix series streaming 10/7)

Halloween belongs to Mike Flanagan from The Haunting Of Hill Houseand in the wake of Midnight Mass, witch hour gets even more attention in this adaptation of Christopher Pike’s novel about teens suffering from terminal illnesses. They’re going to cope by telling each other horrific tales, and the supernatural gets involved, along with a pact to send signals from beyond the grave when the time comes. This series will (unfortunately) suffer from a lack of Hamish Linklaterbut I’m sure the show will make up for this gross sin.

Big mouth: Season 6 (Netflix series streaming 28-10)

Gather around for more of Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg’s adult animated series about how puberty is at its worst. Banality and critical acclaim sometimes go hand in hand! This show will follow closely with the families of the characters, which should be interesting given that hormone samples are on the way. Ideally we also hear more from The bear‘s Ayo Edebiric, who replaced Jenny Slate as Missy after a casting controversy. Hey, we’re taking more Ayo, however we can get it.

Happiest girl in the world (Netflix Movie Streaming 10/7)

Mila Kunis stars in this adaptation of Jessica Knoll’s bestseller, which is certainly inspired by Gillian Flynn’s dark places. The story follows a writer (Ani) who survived a mass murder at her high school. Of course there is PTSD and a documentary filmmaker brings back memories that you better forget. In the end, some dark truths can shake up her entire world even more, and here’s a bonus: Scoot McNairy is coming along for the horrific ride.

Conversations with a Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes (Netflix documentary series streaming 10/7)

Evan Peters stars as the notorious cannibal/serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in this deep dive that features sources of unearthed interviews, all tied up in a repulsive bow while offering “sandwiches” to neighbors. Ryan Murphy makes this true-to-life American horror story, which aims to examine systematic failures that allowed Dahmer to flourish. You know, despite all the disgusting smells and yelling coming from his Wisconsin apartment. Close the blinds before viewing it.

Unsolved Mysteries: Part 3 (Netflix series streaming 10/7)

This one immersive revival still lets the narrator drop (and that’s for the best) as he dives into more unexplained crimes and deaths, possibly missed with the paranormal. The Weird stuff producers teamed up with Cosgrove/Meurer Productions to keep the spirit of the original series alive with real-life stories that will captivate and haunt you.

Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities: Season 1 (Netflix series streaming 25-10)

The horror maestro unleashes an anthology series full of sinister stories, guided by veteran directors including Jennifer Kent (The Babadook). It’s a fitting way to end witch season, so make sure it lasts forever.
