Hook Entertainment Releases New Statement Regarding Conflict With Lee Seung Gi Over Unpaid Music Profits

Hook Entertainment has responded Lee Seung Gi‘s legal representative says the singer has not been paid for his music releases for the past 18 years.

It happened earlier this month revealed that Lee Seung Gi sent a certificate of content to his agency Hook Entertainment, requesting transparent disclosure of payment. The bureau’s office building has also recently been taken over seized and searched by the Serious Crime Investigation Department of the KLPD on suspicion of embezzlement by some executives. On November 21, Dispatch released a report claiming that Lee Seung Gi had not received any of his earnings from his music and that statements from 2004 to 2009 were missing for five years. Kwon Jin Young, CEO of Hook Entertainment, in brief responded they are fact-checking. On November 24, the legal representative of Lee Seung Gi confirmed that Lee Seung Gi was never informed of his music winnings and received insults and threats when he asked for details of the settlement.

In addition, several media outlets have raised questions about the veteran singer Lee Sun Hee‘s relationship with the unfair treatment of Lee Seung Gi as she is listed as a director of Hook Entertainment.

On November 25, Hook Entertainment shared their position on the above matters with the following statement:

Hi, this is Hook Entertainment.

First of all, we are embarrassed and want to apologize to everyone for the continued negative news that has come out lately, as well as the current issue between us and Lee Seung Gi. We would especially like to apologize to Lee Seung Gi who is going through a difficult time because of this.

We also want to bow our heads and apologize to those hurt by CEO Kwon Jin Young’s inappropriate words and actions.

As previously mentioned in Hook Entertainment’s press release, we were in the process of securing and organizing accurate data to respond to the content certification we received from Lee Seung Gi’s legal representative. It is regrettable that the media reports information that has not been accurately verified.

When Hook Entertainment and Lee Seung Gi re-signed an exclusive contract after we originally terminated our exclusive contract in 2021, both parties checked all settlement details of [Lee Seung Gi’s] career, and we arranged the financial bond debt relationship between our company and Lee Seung Gi. Both parties also wrote an agreement confirming such facts.

Nevertheless, following Lee Seung Gi’s request, Hook Entertainment is once again reviewing closely with experts the significant amount of profit settlement that Hook Entertainment paid to Lee Seung Gi.

In addition, the recently released report of a certain media outlet regarding the content of Lee Seung Gi and Hook Entertainment’s contract, such as the profit-sharing ratio, etc., as well as the report that Hook Entertainment has never once paid Lee Seung Gi for his music earnings are different from the truth.

Currently, we intend to organize things clearly and to correct our mistake and take responsibility if there is one. As a celebrity management company that should have maintained relationships with its artists based on faith and trust, we apologize again.

Additionally, in the case of Lee Sun Hee, being a performer who worked with Hook Entertainment from the beginning, she was nominally listed as a director as a courtesy, but from 2006 to 2021, Hook Entertainment was a one-man company. owned 100 percent of Kwon Jin Young’s stock, and Lee Sun Hee was never involved in the company’s management or profit distribution.

At the same time, Hook Entertainment is also announcing that we will not tolerate slandering and harming its artists due to speculation about it and that we will take strong legal action through our legal representative.

Thank you.
