This one-tap business card is the ultimate networking tool. And it’s only $12

Networking is an essential skill necessary for career growth and development, no matter what field you work in. However, printing and distributing business cards doesn’t exactly fit the modern world we live in. (Nothing against carrying physical business cards, of course.)

Instead, the more sustainable solution is a card that digitally transfers your contact information to someone’s phone, such as the Linq card. I’ve been testing one for the past few weeks and it’s easily risen to the top of my daily carry-on, especially during business meetings. This is why you should buy one too.

The Linq business card physically looks the same as a regular business card, but with one big difference: it can share your contact details with others by simply tapping the phone.

To enable the tap-sharing function, the card uses a Near-Field Communication (NFC) chip, the same technology that enables everyday tasks such as making purchases in stores with your smartphone. Most devices have NFC reading capabilities, but for those that don’t, you can still easily share your information by having the person scan the QR code on the back of the card (shown below).

As soon as the person taps the card or scans the QR code, they will see your Linq profile. You will be prompted to create this profile via the Linq app when you first activate your card. The best part is that it is highly customizable, including the layout of your bio page, which social media platforms and links are featured, and even a profile picture for reference.

I find the ability to save contacts particularly useful as I regularly meet different companies and new people. When scanned, the recipient has the option to automatically add my contact information to their default messaging app. Obviously, you want to be careful who you associate the card with.

As for the price, the classic white card is the least expensive option at $12, with prices increasing depending on other color options and finishes. There are no hidden subscriptions or usage fees after you purchase the card, which is refreshing.

These cards make excellent stocking stuffers or gifts for anyone in the workforce, regardless of age. To make the gift even more sentimental and personal, you can even add a custom logo.
