World Cup 2022 highlights: Mexico beat Saudi Arabia 2-1

The FIFA World Cup 2022 continued on Wednesday with Group C leading the way, so Mexico defeated Saudi Arabia at Lusail Stadium in Qatar. While Mexico won the game 2-1, both teams failed to advance to the knockout round.

At the same time, Argentina brought down Poland in another Group C match, with both teams advancing. Earlier, Tunisia defeated France and Australia defeated Denmark in a few Group D matches.

Mexico had a chance to strike first in the opening moments for the Saudi goalkeeper Mohammed Khalil Al Owais driven forward Alex Vegashot attempt.

Saudi Arabia almost struck first, but midfielder Mohammed Kanno‘s kick was a bit high off the net.

With bodies draped around the net of Saudi Arabia, that of Mexico Orbelin Pineda attempted a disputed header from a pass from Hirving Lozano but didn’t get the corner and missed.

Shortly after striking first, Mexico scored again. Midfielder this time Luis Chavez struck through a punt to give Mexico a 2–0 lead.

56′: ALMOST another

Mexico were already riding high after their two quick goals to start the second half, but Mexico almost had another one as Lozano pulled in a score. However, the goal was disallowed for offside.

78′: Mexico continues to attack

Mexico is already leading 2-0 and continues to pressure Saudi Arabia’s net. The last attack saw defender Edson Alvarez getting his shot blocked at the net.

87′: Almost again

Looking for a lead to advance, Mexico forward Uriel Antuna had his goal disallowed for offside. Mexico still led 2-0.

90+5′: Not done yet!

Saudi Arabia came on the board as an attacker late in the second half Salem Al-Dawsari scored a goal. However, the score failed to spark a rally as Saudi Arabia lost 2-1.
